Toyota collaborated with Onbe to streamline sales incentive check administration and reduce Toyota's costs and environmental footprint by delivering payments on reloadable payment cards.

The Opportunity

For years, Toyota had issued commission payments by check to its thousands of sales professionals at more than 1,400 dealers across the U.S. The company saw the opportunity to collaborate with Onbe on a more efficient payment method that would reduce Toyota’s costs and energy footprint while delivering a better experience for sales recipients.

The Solution

Onbe designed a custom-branded program that provided each sales professional with a personalized co-branded debit card for receiving their commission payments. These reusable, reloadable cards simplified Toyota’s payment administration process and reduced payment delivery time from weeks to days. A custom cardholder website provides fund management tools, such as:

  • Payment tracking
  • Account history
  • Mobile activity alerts

Every element of the program is customized to reflect the Toyota brand: payment cards, communication materials, the sales welcome kit, and the cardholder website.

The Results

In less than one month, Toyota launched a custom, fully automated program that delivers unmatched benefits for sales professionals and eliminates the cost and hassle of paper check issuance. One of the most valuable advantages of the program was creating a direct communication channel with the Toyota sales force.
